How to Play Cat Doodle Jump

Learn the keyboard and touch controls, automatic bouncing, safe landings and first height goal in Cat Doodle Jump.

Rules reviewed 2026-10-14

Your first climb

  1. Select Let’s jump. The cat starts bouncing automatically.
  2. Use short left or right movements to line up your feet with a green platform.
  3. Land while falling. Passing through a platform on the way up is normal.
  4. Aim for 500 height to earn Rooftop paws. Falling below the board ends the run; Jump again starts a new climb.

Keyboard and touch controls

ActionKeyboardTouch
MoveLeft/right arrows or A/DHold the left/right half of the board or the arrow buttons
Pause/resumeSpace or pause buttonPause button, then Keep climbing
SoundSound off/on button; sound starts only after you choose it

Moving your finger across the middle changes direction. Letting go stops steering. Holding both directions cancels them out. Moving beyond either edge wraps the cat to the opposite edge.

Read the platform before you land

Green ledges are stationary and form the main route. Blue ledges move sideways. Brown cracked ledges crumble when touched, so keep a green fallback below you. A spring gives a higher bounce without needing another button.

Start with small corrections rather than holding a direction for the entire jump. Judge the next landing while near the top of your arc. The platforms get narrower as you climb, so overshooting becomes less forgiving.

Pausing and coming back

Switching tabs or leaving the window automatically pauses the climb. Resume from the overlay when you return. Reloading or closing the page ends that run: the saved data contains your highest score and earned medals, not the cat’s live position.

See save and backup instructions before changing browser or device, and the game guide for obstacles and medal goals.

Practise in three short runs

  1. Watch a bounce. Leave steering alone briefly and notice when the cat passes through ledges on ascent. Landing tests happen only while falling.
  2. Make one correction. Use a short press toward a nearby green ledge, then release. The cat slows smoothly rather than stopping at exactly the release point, so leave room for that small drift.
  3. Choose two landings. Before aiming for a higher platform, notice one below it. This gives you a recovery option if you overshoot or a moving ledge shifts away.

Each run generates a new arrangement, so this is a practice method rather than a fixed sequence of guaranteed platforms.

Why does my height sometimes stop increasing?

Height records upward camera progress, not every bounce. Staying on the same ledge can keep the cat alive without increasing the score. You need to reach higher ledges until the climb moves the camera upward again.

A safer lower landing may cost you progress for a moment but keep the run alive. Do not confuse that pause in scoring with broken input or missing saves. The platform guide explains how the main route changes with height.

When to use the screen edges

The cat wraps after moving beyond the left or right edge. This can reach a ledge on the opposite side, but it is not a safety reset: you keep your vertical motion. Check the destination before wrapping, especially after birds enter the obstacle pool.
